Tiny Boats

When I was a child of six or seven, an acquaintance of my father engaged me in a conversation about boats. He asked questions, listened intently, nodding as he took it in. The man seemed very impressed with my knowledge, smiled broadly, and congratulated me.

Later, my father told me the man was an expert on boats. I wondered why he would want to listen to a kid talk when he already knew so much.

Now I know. Do you?
